4 Fall Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces

If you love to decorate but don’t have much room to decorate; here are some easy & popular decorations to spruce up your small space for fall.

Wreaths

WREATH.jpgWreaths are a great and easy choice for fall decorating because they take up very minimal space.  They can be hung over or on the door or displayed on a wall.  You can find a lot of DIY ideas for Fall Wreaths on Pinterest, Countryliving.com and Goodhousekeeping.com.

Popular fall colors for wreaths include Orange, Brown and Sage Green. Dahlias, Chrysanthemum, and Orange Gerbera are good fall flower choices for wreaths. Fall leaves, pine cones, fruit and pumpkins are also good accessories for your own DIY wreath.

If you lack in the creativity department or are short on time, Hobby Lobby, Pier 1 and Michaels have premade wreaths available for purchase at their stores.

Pumpkins

PUMPKINS.jpgReal or fake pumpkins can be used on the porch, mantle, and shelves or on the dining room table as a centerpiece.  You can carve, paint or draw on real pumpkins.

Keep in mind if you carve your pumpkin, it will only last approximately two weeks.  Pumpkinpile.com has free sketches, templates and patterns for carving your pumpkin.

In addition to being reusable every year fake pumpkins are good because they can come in an array of sizes and colors that you can use to accommodate your space.  Some hobby stores such as Michaels or Hobby Lobby sell decorative fake pumpkins all ready to be displayed.

Scarecrows

SCARECROW.jpgScarecrows can come in a variety of shapes and sizes and nowadays you can make almost anything a scarecrow.

You can have your child make a scarecrow out of construction paper and hang it on the fridge or post in the window. On Pinterest you can learn how to make a scarecrow out of wine bottle for a fun centerpiece.

Doll sized scarecrows can be put on the couch next to some decorative fall pillows.  For a little bit larger scarecrows, your front door, porch or yard is a good place to display them.

There are many different ways you can make your own scarecrow but just make sure to have the basic jean bottom, plaid or flannel top and some sort of hat.

Mums

You can grow mums indoors, but you will have to make sure that you are watering it regularly. You will also want to keep it in an area where it can receive good air circulation and avoid excess humidity for optimal care.

It doesn’t take a lot of space to decorate for the fall.  Whether it is something simple as a wreath or large scarecrow by your front door make it your own and remember that sometimes a little can go a long way.
