I walked into Bath & Body Works a few weeks ago, expecting seasonal scents and hand soaps. Instead, I found something more intriguing—a towering castle display with a bold message:
“Disney Princess – YOU HOLD THE POWER. Which icon will you choose?”
At first, I admired the marketing genius who turned a slow retail period into something immersive and engaging. But then, as I looked at the display, I did something unexpected.
I looked in the mirror and asked: Which icon am I?
The Power of Storytelling in Business and Beyond
This campaign wasn’t just about selling products. It was about self-identity, empowerment, and connection.
Disney Princesses aren’t just characters; they represent different journeys—dreamers, warriors, and trailblazers. Bath & Body Works used that idea to draw people in, not just to shop, but to see themselves in the brand.
And it made me wonder… How often do we stop and think about the story we are telling?
Your Outdoor Space Tells a Story
As the owner of Dowco Enterprises, a landscape maintenance company, I work with a fantastic team to create beautiful, hassle-free outdoor spaces.
But if I step back and think about my role in this journey, who am I?
Am I the dreamer, envisioning a company that transforms landscapes?
The warrior, facing challenges like labor shortages and economic shifts?
The trailblazer, redefining how we connect with clients and employees?
The truth is, I’m all the above. And so are our clients—homeowners who take pride in their outdoor spaces, families who gather in their backyards, and businesses who want to create welcoming environments.
Every Home Has a Story—What’s Yours?
Bath & Body Works made customers the hero of their story by inviting them to choose an identity and engage with the brand.
At Dowco, we strive to do the same for our clients. Your outdoor space isn’t just about maintenance, it’s about creating a place where memories are made.
- How do you want your landscape to make you feel?
• Is it a peaceful retreat where you unwind after a long day?
• A lively gathering place where friends and family connect?
• A reflection of your home’s personality and style?
Your landscape is more than just grass and plants, it’s an extension of your story. And we’re here to help you bring that story to life.
What’s Next for Your Outdoor Space?
That simple moment—standing before a marketing display, looking into a mirror, and questioning my role—sparked something in me.
I want to bring storytelling deeper into my work. Maybe that means helping clients see their outdoor spaces not just as something to maintain but as part of their home’s story. Perhaps it means highlighting the incredible team that makes it happen.
And maybe it means asking the question Bath & Body Works asked me:
You hold the power. Which icon will you choose?
So, I’ll leave you with this:
What role is your outdoor space playing in your life? And how can we help make it an even more significant part of your story?
