Sightseeing around St. Louis

My husband Mark and I did this driving tour a while back:

It was fun- there were opportunities to view historic bridges and buildings in a scenic rural setting. Some of them you had to hunt to find, so kind of a scavenger hunt as well! We stopped off for lunch in Maeystown and walked through the town and had lunch. The entire town is a historic site, which was neat. It was a great, relaxing day.

Sometimes will have winery night at the Schuths' on occasion. We will stop off and pick up a new wine to try and will pick up some light winery fare: Brie, sausage, crackers, shrimp cocktail, fresh fruit and hang out on the patio and talk about the day. Here is one of my favorite recipes!

Stuffed Poblano pepper recipe:

2 poblano peppers

1 8oz package cream cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar

¼ cup diced onion

1 t powdered garlic

¼ cup bacon bits (optional)

Mix cream cheese, shredded cheese, onion, bacon bits and garlic. It will be thick.

Halve and de-seed poblanos

Smear each half with the cheese mix

Put on grill until it has reached a creamy, bubbly goodness and enjoy. I particularly like this with grilled chicken.
