I'm the owner of Dowco and started the business with my dad's truck and lawn mower almost 40 years ago. I love bike riding, spinning, hitting the gym and taking part in physical activities. I still appreciate hopping on a skid loader, or jumping in a salt truck every now and then for a few hours. Those types of activities keep me involved in the fun part of landscaping and they are very therapeutic. Once the work is done, I find ways, to travel to visit old friends and make new ones. My favorite travel sites have water, beach, sun and mountains.

What to Look for in a St. Louis Mulching Company

Your Dowco mulch project receives 3 important things.  First a world class bed cleanup, followed by a crisp shovel edge and finally the smooth application of your mulch of choice.

First: A Spring Bed Cleanup

During the bed cleanup, any remaining ornamental grasses are cut low and as level as possible without damaging the crown; the area where the stems meet the roots.  We remove the dead from spent perennials and cut them back to about 1”.  This helps prevent the spread of any pests or disease that may have over-wintered.

Making Better Decisions about Your Chesterfield Lawn Mowing

“Decisions are the hardest thing to make, especially when it’s a choice between where you should be and where you want to be.” – Anonymous

Have you ever had to choose between two options?

  • Before work: Change the oil in your car or prepare and eat a healthy breakfast?
  • After work: See your kids in a school play or finish your tax refund paperwork?
  • After dinner: Wash the dishes or go to the gym for a workout?
  • Before bed: Put away laundry or read a book?

These are common choices that most of us have faced in our adulthood. Making constant decisions over how the chores, or nonessential tasks, in our lives are going to be handled is draining for you brain!

There’s an obvious answer in each of the questions above, however sometimes the non-essential become so glaringly overwhelming that we must do it.
